Do I have the full picture? No, I don't think I do but I work every day to try and find pieces of it. I don't think anyone can truly ever have the full picture but is up to us to try and find at least some of it. When I was younger I was in a pretty diverse school but was never directly best friends with someone who was another ethnicity/race than me. Luckily I have never really been around extreme racism of any kind, especially not like Autumn Roberson-Manahan. The sad thing is that people of color are normally deemed as not honest, and abusing the system, they just have a bad image in our society. Why? Is it because in school we are never really told the bad part of history that involved White Males. Is it because the news focuses on people of color who mess up? I think all of it plays a big part. The goal/purpose of public schools is to give everyone equal opportunity to learn and be able to achieve their full potential and be able to participate in future society.  Public schools educate everyone no matter race, gender, or ethnicity. They have all social classes, it does not matter if you are rich or poor, you will be receiving the same education.  M arginalized students are th ose individuals or social groups who, by virtue of their race, gender, or geographical location, have historically been placed on the margins or periphery of the mainstream social and economic hierarchy.   In public schools, I feel like marginalized students are more accepted because everyone is put together in one classroom no matter who they are or where they come from. Hi, my name is Abbey Mullen, this is my first year at Texas State and I will be graduating in 2 years. I have always wanted to be a teacher. Even from a very young age. My 2nd Grade teacher Mrs.Bryant was where it was sparked. She just had such a loving environment and I realized I wanted to do that for kids, I wanted to be her. One very vivid memory I have of her is one day I walked into class and there was a warm-up on the board, the question was what is a dozen and draw a dozen. I had been in the class but could not remember at all so I went up to her little table and stood next to her while she talked me through it and helped me draw, to this day I will always remember what a dozen is because of how kind she was and how easy it was for her to help me and for me to learn. I used to make my mum take me to the Dollar Tree so I could buy worksheets and classroom things, I set up my own classroom in our playroom and my 2 little sisters were my students.
